Mothers and Sisters: The Silent Genocide

Alma believes her talk points out the clear connection between sexism and women being killed. Latin America has one of the highest rates of femicide, the killing of a woman or girl, not surprising perhaps considering the extreme prevalence of macho culture. Sexism kills and too many lost lives are evidence of this. Feminism is also on the rise, however, so there is hope this will protect our girls and women and put an end to this silent genocide.
Alma is in year 9 at the King Alfred School. Born in Madrid to Uruguayan parents, she moved to London six years ago. She has a passion for activism and is particularly interested in intersectional feminism which is what prompted her to do this talk.
