Basic needs such as energy, water, and of course, food, lie at the heart of the challenges that humanity faces worldwide. These are wicked problems, and according to Nickey Janse van Rensburg and her team, such problems require expertly engineered, social solutions that cut across disciplines. Her team’s efforts, driven through the ResearchGO platform at the University of Johannesburg, have taken shape as a social movement around food. ResearchGO is not building an organisation, but rather a coalition of active participants made up of partnerships and networks. They bring together people with shared values, helping to move them towards their one common goal: food resilience in urban areas.
