Jay W. SHIN was first inspired by the mystery of biology in a science class when he was a high school student. Now, he is a co-leader of the FANTOM6 Project, an international consortium, where RIKEN is playing a central role to analyze the long non-coding RNAs. He gives us insights surrounding new discoveries through the functional analysis of 98% of DNA that has been recognized as "junk".
