The topic of body image perception is an issue that holds an array of complexities, particularly as it affects many regardless of age, ethnicity, or gender. A factor that can impact one’s sense of body perception is their sense of smell, and this is a key element highlighted through Giada’s talk. This talk explores the implications and functionality of the sense of smell, by its perseverance and power in shaping perceptions, often dangerous for ourselves. Through new technologies, such as virtual reality and artificial reality, Giada highlights how Human-Computer Interaction can be beneficial in therapeutic settings, particularly for the treatment of body image perception disorders.
