At the age of 43, German Madrazo fulfilled his childhood dream of competing in the Olympics. Representing the Mexican national team as a cross-country skier, he took part in the 2018 Winter Olympics and came in last place for his race. German’s positive attitude took the world by surprise when he finished the race waving the Mexican flag and being greeted by fellow skiers. In lieu of his optimistic charisma, the press gave him the title the happiest last place finisher.
German shares his journey towards competing in the olympics and challenges the perception we have towards last place.
