Somalis are an oral society, our history is narrated through chains of poems and song, from generation to generation, and it is fact that with the aging and death of each Abwaan (Poet/Narrator) we lose part of that history. Dr. Jama takes us through the transition from an oral to a written culture and the role that the Hargeysa International Book Fair has in promoting a culture of reading and writing.
