The insulin production today is independent of the need of animals such as pigs, unlike its initial process, which is an example of the triumph of engineering and ingenuity, transforming an old process to address a huge urgent problem. On similar lines, Varun Deshpande looks at the issue of meat production, i.e. animal agriculture in totality, demonstrating the need for an urgent upgrade, as it is a major contributor to global climate change. Here, Varun discusses an already existing solution, an alternative to animal meat as 'plant-based meat', which scientists have successfully discovered and validated. He presses the imperative need of this plant-based meat, as it is less harsh on nature and an alternative which gives an environment friendly alternative without compromising on taste and flavor that is similar to animal meat.
