What do the strongest people on the planet have in common with recovered addicts? The answer might surprise you: Just take one day at a time.
In this TEDx talk, sober strongman athlete Kathryn Bennett teaches us that the world’s strongest people are not that different from everyone else. Just like you, elite athletes get stronger by picking up 2.5 pounds at a time, over and over again. Elite strongman athletes don’t worry about perfect performance every time they lift weights. Instead, they focus on the basics, session after session, lift after lift. The same goes for staying sober: You can’t accelerate the process. Staying sober for five years takes five years. Picking up 550 lbs takes years of practice. But, like Kathryn, you can achieve both by simply doing the bare minimum: Just show up and do the work every day. It’s that simple. Watch Kathryn’s talk to learn their formula for #success in athletics, relationships, and the workplace.
Kathryn Bennett is a non-binary, sober, world-record-holding strongman competitor and published author who specializes in cultivating mental toughness. They use the mental fortitude and tenacity they learned in the gym to develop daily habits for discipline in the workplace and beyond. Kathryn is determined to demystify the “secrets” to developing the physical and emotional #strength you need to be your best self.
