Dr. Gurudas Nulkar is an ecologist, teacher, and an author. He basically is a man of uncountable achievements, which particularly is fairly significant. He is a trustee of the Ecological Society, a founder member of the Ramnadi Restoration Mission, and an adviser to the Meenanadi and Agrani River Restoration Programs.
His speech focused on how industrialization is the center of climate change and some of its cures.
Industrialization is the process of transformational change of the human society socially and economically from an agrarian society into an industrial one. It involves vast economic and social changes such as a tendency to urbanization.
Climate change can be described as the persistent change in the weather pattern engendered by anthropogenic activities mostly linked to industrialization.
Why is Pollution unabated?
Why is depletion overlooked?
Following are the points he expressed what the government can do:
• Carbon accounting
• Sequestration capacity accounting
• Carbon and water footprints
• Green entrepreneurship
Dr. Nulkar also shared that all of us can track our water footprint, eat organic and use public transport like sidewalks, bicycles etc. It is possible with patience and change in attitudes we’re displaying.
