Education through Development
Yogesh Kulkarni • TEDxPune
He believes the absence of development in a community can be used as an opportunity to give hands on training to students, showcased by his training rural youth and helping them to start technology based enterprises in villages through his Fab Lab in the village Pabal since 2002. Learning while doing in real life situations is a natural way of learning. Many schools are trying to practice activity based learning but schools in developing countries have financial & resource constraints when it comes to implementation. In spite of this, Yogesh is credited with scaling up the work centered education program "Introduction to Basic Technology' in over 122 schools in four states, which benefits around 8000 students every year. Yogesh's talk presents methods to integrate development work in the community with the school curriculum, thereby training students to become entrepreneurs and innovators.
