Ulcca Joshi Hansen has worked in public education for over twenty years, advocating for an approach to learning and education that focuses on supporting the developmental and learning needs of young people. Her experiences as the child of two immigrants have informed her beliefs around what it means to provide an "equitable education" for all students.
In this passionate talk, Ulcca focuses on advocating for the importance of celebrating a sense of belonging and purpose in school as well as providing young leaders with student centered learning experiences. It’s about allowing students to develop their unique interests and individual potential in order to take charge of their learning environment. It breaks barriers of the traditional way of learning and teaching and replaces reading, writing, and arithmetic with three new R’s: relationship, relevance, and reintegration. Ulcca truly believes that this sense of belonging and purpose immersed with education is the only foundation strong enough to build a life that is meaningful.
