Thom Scott-Phillips is a cognitive and social scientist based at Central European University. He works in particular on communication, the evolution of the human mind, and on how the flow of information in human groups generates culture and society.
He is also a dancer and dance teacher, specialising in the lindy hop.
In his speech Thom talks about communication beyond language, and about how some cultural practices – like partnered dance – exploit the flexibility and dynamism that is so characteristic of human communication.
