What happens when you hear a siren? For some it means relief and protection – but for others it signals the exact opposite. Supporting children in police stations, courtrooms, prisons and the community, racial justice campaigner Temi Mwale has witnessed and experienced the trauma caused by systemic racism. Black people are over-policed and under protected and the criminal justice system is broken. Temi argues that another world is possible but it requires us to completely reimagine what justice feels like. We can only win the fight for racial equity through international solidarity, practicing transformative justice and ensuring that organisations are held accountable.
