Children love to hear stories and read books. But how much do we pay attention to the stories we choose for them and to the messages that hide between their pages? These implicit yet strong messages affect who our children will be as girls and boys, and later, as men and women.
In this talk, author and activist Tal Breier Ben Moha reveals a unique and simple method she developed to expose hidden biased messages our children get from books with regards to gender and diversity. The method teaches us how to choose books for our kids wisely, raise our own awareness to gender biased messages in stories and mediate them to our children to promote critical thinking and teach a gender equal perspective, turning our quality time into EQuality Time.
