When her husband was killed on 9/11, Susan could have been paralyzed by loss. Instead, she acted on a simple impulse to counter hatred with outreach. Through a series of small but remarkable choices, Susan shows how compassion can bridge the differences between cultures and ideologies. Susan Retik is a Leadership Coach and the co-founder of Beyond the 11th, a non-profit organisation dedicated to raising awareness and addressing the plight of impoverished widows in Afghanistan. She won the 2010 Presidential Citizen’s Award, presented to her by former US President Barack Obama. Susan is the subject of the award-winning documentary film, "Beyond Belief".
