“A woman’s best protection is a little money of her own”
Money is a medium of care. But when the morality of money is missing, money becomes a source of abuse and coercive control. As a sociologist of money and an honorary professor at RMIT University, Supriya Singh breaks the silence around economic abuse and family violence. Drawing on her own experience and her research of the devastating experience of the violence of money, she illustrates how economic abuse involves denying a woman money, appropriating her assets, and sabotaging her paid work.
