Research shows that the more primary care clinicians are available, the better the health of the community, with more equitable outcomes. At the same time, there are many signs that our current model of primary care isn't working well for patients and their families, or for clinicians. Dr. Steven Rothschild is the Chair of Family Medicine at Rush University Medical Center, and a Professor in the Departments of Family Medicine and Preventive Medicine in the Medical College of Rush University. A graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School, he completed his residency in Cleveland at the MetroHealth county hospital system, affiliated with Case Western Reserve University.
