Why the Forest's Biodiversity is More Than Just Trees
Sheherazade Sheherazade • TEDxJakarta
For the majority of us city dwellers, the forest is often only seen as a vacation for the adventurous and the flora & fauna inside are seen as the responsibility of conservationists. But as more research is done, we now know that every ecosystem on earth is one big intertwined system, with it's biodiversity being the key to these ecosystems function. The forest is not just the trees, the decline in it's biodiversity can reduce its ability to ensure the healthy cycle of water, air, and carbon. In this talk, Shera explains the various services provided by the animals, that are often overlooked, for the majority of us urban citizens, and how their decline will affect the comfort of our city life.
Shera's talk was recorded at Gedung Kesenian Jakarta, Central Jakarta for Countdown by TEDxJakarta—a 100% volunteer driven movement commited to ideas worth spreading, visit us at www.TEDxJakarta.org.
