Can computers understand slang?

Traditionally, computer programming languages are designed so that the user can understand the computer. This creates a divide and gap in computer science because it excludes people, who for a variety of reasons, have been turned off by code. In this talk Sharon de la Cruz offers "Code Slang" which uses the playfulness of slang to invite people from different backgrounds to code. What could it mean for a computer to understand slang?
