Cities like Bengaluru need to usher in a new wave of urban composting as they cannot afford to treat themselves merely as producers of waste and consumers of food. There is a need to create a network of buyers and sellers of compost. Savita Hiremath, an independent journalist and author of the popular blog 'Endlessly Green', talks about how community composting evolved in Bangalore and her project SwachaGraha Compost Connect (SGCC), connecting urban compost producers with farmers and terrace gardeners while busting certain myths about the "city compost".
