My name is Samuel Lehto and I’m 26 years old. I’m currently studying the Master’s program of Industrial Design at Lund University, but I’m originally from Sundsvall. During my time at Lund University, I have presented design projects for NASA and IKEA, exhibited products at Milan Design Week, the Stockholm Furniture Fair, and at Form och Designcentrum in Malmö. Before studying design, I spent two years at art school in Sundsvall (Sundsvalls Konstskola (KOMS)). In a few months, I will have finished my degree and start making my way as a professional designer.
Many people view creativity solely as having to do with making art, but I argue that it is a far more valuable attribute that can be used to influence one’s life in meaningful ways.
Design is foremost about trying to solve human problems which are often broad and elusive in nature; this makes it a good analogy to view life through. I am going to talk about lessons, tools, and insights from design and creativity that I have found useful when navigating life even for people who do not see themselves as creative.
