The world faces some seriously BIG problems, but we all can help solve them. Richard, a teacher at the British School in the Netherlands, tells us his very ‘Human’ story illustrating how, through small steps, each one of us has the capacity to make a real difference. The story encompasses international adoption, living in different continents and having your parents make you wear second-hand clothing and living without a TV!

Richard Human has worked at the British School in the Netherlands for eight years as a teacher and senior leader. Before joining, Richard worked as a documentary photographer and journalist in Africa, Asia and South America. Now grown up, he is a father, husband and student.
“Breaking the Mould” is the second TEDxYouth event organised by The British School in the Netherlands. Speakers explore ideas around ‘If I could lead for a day’, ‘Tackling tough truths’ and ‘An Invitation for Change’.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, were x=independently organized TED event.
