Paula Pfeifer was born hearing but progressively became deaf until finally reaching profound deafness at age 31. In this talk, she tells of her struggles with deafness before her decision to undergo cochlear implantation. She is author of the books "New Chronicles of Deafness: My cochlear implant epiphanies," "Crônicas da surdez," and is also author of the blog "Crônicas da surdez."
