In 2020, many reacted to the blatant crimes committed against Black Americans in the form of police brutality and pledged to support their fellow Black citizens in any way they could. Yet oftentimes, these horrific acts of violence and displays of racism are the tip of a very deep iceberg of unseen racism that creates a social climate in which it is easier for these acts to occur. Oscar Holmes IV illustrates the variety of subtle dangers Black Americans face and shows us how our understanding can contribute to collective healing.
