Victoria Strong is a wife, mother, and the Executive Director of the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation, formed after her firstborn was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). When Gwendolyn was diagnosed at 6-months-old, there was no treatment or cure. Believing anyone can make a difference, Victoria and her husband created ways to fund crucial research and and pass legislation. Through Victoria’s local and national advocacy, SMA now has multiple treatment options and a potential cure -- changing the future of the disease forever. In her talk, Victoria addresses the societal challenges that face many people living with special needs. She looks to redefine accessibility by making it a much more inclusive concept. With plans to build an inclusive playground in Santa Barbara, Victoria demonstrates how any one of us can strive for a better world.
