Writer and activist Nikesh Shukla believes one person can make a difference. Drawing on the story of his uncle, who at huge personal cost became the first person to bring a case of racial discrimination under the 1965 UK Race Relations Act, Nikesh walks through the changing views of race and immigration in the UK. Fifty years later, Nikesh thinks that racism hasn’t got worse, but rather it has become emboldened to step out from the shadows. In this insightful conversation with Paul van Zyl, Nikesh also shines a spotlight on how he is combating racism through diversity activism and increasing the representation of diverse people in books, on stage and on our screens.
