Nancy Scannell used to attack life with a "frenetic energy": she moved from one activity to the next as quickly as possible, only stopping to regain her composure during her morning run. After attending a session on mindfulness, she discovered that she could gain the same peace and composure that she gleans from her morning runs in a moment of purposeful pause.
