TEDxMcGill
• November 2021
In his talk, Dr. Naeem Komeilipoor sheds light on the present and future state of Brain-Machine Interface and envisions how it will eventually turn us into superhumans, or as he calls “e-Humans”. After providing some examples of recent breakthroughs made in neural implants, he foresees that safe and portable non-invasive neurotechnology will soon enable us to decode and transform our brains and extend our capabilities as humans. Having described the game-changing potential of neurotechnology, which he believes is somehow bypassing human brain evolution, he warns about its possible risks and provides some suggestions on how to tackle them so that it can become a tool that makes us “e-Humans” that are more humans and not less humans. This talk was filmed and edited by TVM, Student Television at McGill.
