Liane Collares |
TEDxLaçador
• June 2018
Liane talks about diversity that enriches - inclusion is the privilege of living with the differences -, about the adversities that need to be surpassed and the importance of people with Down syndrome inclusion in all society fields, starting from the family, passing through sports and job market. And she asks, "What is to be normal, if we are all different?"
When Liane Collares was a child, most regular schools wouldn't accept people with Down syndrome. That doesn't stop Liane, who studied in a regular public school and surpassed many other obstacles in her life. Liane already lectured in conferences, even international ones, and wrote a book about her condition. And she is also an actress. From January, 2015 to March, 2016, she took the technical adviser job in Promotion of Disabled Person's Rights Coordenation, in Secretaria of Women, Racial Equality and Human Rights , being the first person with some kind of intelectual disability to take a job there.
