Leona Prince is a passionate teacher in Northern BC who has over the years learned to understand her privilege. According to Leona, there is a privilege in knowing who you are and where you come from. Recorded at TEDxUNBC in Prince George, BC.
Leona's talk brings us down a path of understanding and contemplation about how privilege can mean knowing where you are and how you belong. This idea took Leona years of learning to fully understand. The challenge for her was getting over the concept that as an Indigenous woman in Canada she had privilege, being raised in her own culture. Leona's talk asks us to look at the current context for Indigenous people in Canada, and how certain ideas should be understood in order to move forward in a time of truth and reconciliation.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
