Society codes gender as either blue (male) or pink (female) based on a baby's physical sex characteristics at birth. What happens if the child is neither a blue nor pink? What happens when gender develops independently to sex? Landa Mabenge, author of Becoming Him-a trans memoir of triumph, speaks candidly about the need to deconstruct the rigid gender binary on the home level. He shares his journey by reminding us of the variations of the colour spectrum. His message: The coding of blue and pink on a newborn is detrimental to development and individual autonomy.
