“By restoring the forest, we restore ourselves.”
The ancient teas originated deep in the forests of the mountain chain from Assam in India to Yunnan in China, passing Burma, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand. This is where Kenneth Rimdahl aims to sustainably grow local tea while also conserving forests. He believes that by living in accord with nature’s laws, nature will support us into the future.
Kenneth, a tea shop owner in Spain, traveled to Thailand and was impressed by the unique and remarkable flavor of miang (fermented tea leaves from wild and free-grown tea plants enjoyed by Thai mountain dwellers for centuries) and the sustainable way it is grown. He began an enterprise called Monsoon Tea in 2013, aiming to make it a center for spreading knowledge and development of sustainable tea production.
