Empathy is absolutely crucial for helping us connect with the people around us. Stories teach us, step-by-step, how to empathize with others and imagine walking in their shoes. When we assume that boys won't read stories about girls, we sell them short and deprive them of the chance to practice empathy. Author Katherine Center writes bittersweet comic stories about how we fall down — and how we get back up. Her novels have won several awards, appeared in several reputable media outlets, and been published in translation all around the world.
