Men carry so much weight on their shoulders, but even the strongest men feel weak at times. Coping with undisclosed traumas are a daily challenge for many and the way it shows up in their lives can be very detrimental when ignored. In her talk, “I am My Brother’s Keeper” Karen Roberson talks about the importance of assisting men with starting their journey of self-healing. She believes that by providing more outlets for men to feel supported, they will be more likely to open up and begin having healthy conversations regarding mental health. “Your past is not a life sentence. Remember, it’s not how you start but how you finish”.
A prolific writer, actress, singer, and producer, Compton, CA native Karen Roberson is using her creative gifts to help uplift, inspire, and empower not only her community but communities worldwide through the art of theater. Her mission is to help change the world one creative project at time. Karen is the Founder and CEO of Mahogany Girl Productions LLC. Additionally, she is the founder of Mahogany Stars Inc, non-profit organization providing programs for youth and young adults in underserved areas of Los Angeles County. This talk was filmed during a TEDx event using the TED conference format during the COVID-19 pandemic, with only a limited audience of cast and crew.
