In her speech accepting the 2018 Academy Award for Best Actress, Frances McDormand introduced the world to the idea of an “inclusion rider,” a powerful mechanism to boost diversity in Hollywood productions and many other endeavors.
One of the original minds behind the Inclusion Rider, civil rights attorney Kalpana Kotagal has been at the forefront of using the law to enhance diversity in countless organizations and industries. Although she has often had to fight to increase diversity, the inescapable conclusion is that organizations that embrace diversity are stronger, safer, and more creative, and the most successful organizations actively embrace diversity. In this talk, Kalpana draws on her wealth of experience and insight to explain why this is so.
