The future of mapping at human scale
Jonathan Neufeld |
TEDxCalgary
• November 2020
What happens when we start using mapping technologies that match our actual human scale, and represent a truer sense of our lives as humans?
Starting with a whimsical view of mapping at 1:1 scale from the 19th Century writing of Lewis Carroll to today's sophisticated representations of our world on a truly human scale, Jonathan Neufeld explores how maps have always influenced and demonstrated our understanding of the world around us. Critically, he also asks us to explore how human-centered mapping changes the locus of control from the map-maker to any person with a smart mobile device.
