Edith Espinal came to the US from Mexico with her father when she was a teenager, eventually forming a family of her own in Columbus, Ohio. Despite having no criminal record, she was given a deportation order. In this talk Pastor Joel Miller tells the story of how his congregation of Columbus Mennonite Church decided to offer sanctuary for Edith within its walls, enabling her to avoid deportation and stay with her family while advocating for her legal case. A singular
story that sheds light on a broader movement - how people of goodwill are finding ways to support immigrant neighbors and families in crisis.
