Surviving Depression

I have a question for you all. Do you know depression? Have you experienced
depression?
I'm sure at least one of us in this room has experienced or is experiencing
depression. Depression feels like drowning into a silent ocean full of chaos and
despair. It leaves you blank as if oblivion has taken over. And trying to get out, can
make it, even more, harder to escape, like your trapped in quicksand.
My depression story is a long journey full of pain and learning. It was caused by
self-hatred that came from the bullies when I was in 6th grade. They spat out
words and phrases that killed my confidence. Even if I knew that it was wrong to
cling onto those words and phrases they spat out, I couldn’t control my thoughts.
instead, the thoughts controlled me.
