Watch More TV

Description: TV has always been something that people have enjoyed attacking and belittling, but is it really as terrible as many make it out to be? The pressure of today’s world weighs heavily on most people’s minds, and the ability to escape is tempting and often exactly what we need. Escapism isn’t a new concept, but modern television has actually been able to shake off much of what made it such a negative option in the past. This talk will focus on an English teacher making the most non-English-teachery statement ever: You need to watch more TV.
Bio: Gary has been teaching for 18 years, 13 of which have been at South Fayette High School. During this time, he has been involved in multiple activities, including Senior and Junior Class Councils and NHS. He is a very proud father of two little girls, Aubrey, who is five, and Alyssa, who is 2 ½. Although reading children’s books, coloring, playing games, and pretending to be whatever he is directed to be are now his foremost pastimes, when he has any moments to himself, he is a frequent movie-goer, an avid reader, a lover of television, and, sometimes regrettably, a passionate Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
