At 13 years old, Frida Aguilera de la Toree and her mother introduced an anti-bullying bill to the Nebraska Legislature following a traumatic bullying incident. Frida, her mother, and sisters immigrated to the United States when she was only a small child. Growing up as an immigrant in the U.S. brought many struggles and obstacles for Frida and her family.
As an immigrant in the U.S., Frida was faced with the many misconceptions that people hold about her culture. As time moved forward, these misconceptions turned into extreme bullying that affected multiple aspects of Frida’s life. Regardless, she knew that her peers’ behaviors were unacceptable. She was inspired to take action against bullies, and plans to continue supporting this cause as an immigration lawyer. Watch Frida share her inspirational first-hand experience as an immigrant in the Trump Era.
