What happens in the cockpit stays in the cockpit... sort of. This is a tale about how other peoples’ trials and tribulations, their worries and struggles, shared with me, a relative stranger, thousands of feet in the air, over the ocean in the dark helped me to tackle the ultimate challenge. Being in a type “A” male dominated profession, the “lets just fix it mentality”, and checklist discipline were the building blocks for my battle with breast cancer. Surrounded by a loving family enabled me to redefine myself, relinquishing some of the control we think we have is just the beginning.
