Primo Levi in regard to Holocaust survivors once wrote that there are two kinds of people in the world: those who talk about the tragedies that befall them, and those who choose not to. Seventh grader Eric Levine categorizes himself as one of those people who wishes to speak about the tragedy he carries with him: the death of his father when he was very young. But Eric understands that experiencing loss and sadness and giving voice to these feelings effectively are two very different things, and in his TEDx talk he examines the ways in which we can use language to talk authentically and viscerally about grief.
