The Power of Open Data to Bring Historical Data to Life

Emma tells her story about how she worked on visualising the Survey of Scottish Witchcraft Database during the course of a three-month internship. Using historical sources along with knowledge from academics, Emma will describe the processes that she took to create the witches.is.ed.ac website. The website displays the place of residence for the accused witches of Scotland during 1536 to 1763 and brings the accused stories to life. Linked open data played a crucial part of the processes and has since helped other historical projects flourish.
