Ever ditched a hobby to keep up with work? You may want to rethink that. Emilia Bunea, financial-services-CEO-turned-researcher, shares surprising findings from her research into major company CEOs and their “serious leisure.”
Emilia Bunea is a leadership scholar and educator. Having spent nearly two decades in the C-suite, as CFO and later CEO in the financial services industry, she is particularly interested in bridging academic and practitioner perspectives on leadership. For her PhD dissertation she has focused on the subject of leaders’ passionate hobbies (formally known as “serious leisure”) and interviewed numerous CEOs of major corporations. Emilia’s research has been featured on the Harvard Business Review’s website and nominated for an Academy of Management award.
