A house is more than just a building. It represents security, stability, certainty, and familiar environment. Creating a ‘home’ of a post-disaster house is crucial for overcoming the recovery process, both physically and psychologically
Dr. Elizabeth Wagemann is a Chilean architect who believes that recovery and reconstruction after disaster can be an opportunity to improve the quality of life of those affected. She holds an MPhil and a PhD from the University of Cambridge, where she studied transitional and permanent housing after disaster and developed low-cost and post-disaster housing in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Pakistan and the Philippines.
