These Women Changed Your Life
Elise Luhr Dietrichson, Fatima Sator |
TEDxPlaceDesNationsWomen
• December 2018
Elise Luhr Dietrichson and Fatima Sator met at the School of Oriental Studies of London. While preparing their Master’s thesis, these two young researchers made a stunning discovery: the United Nations Charter, the closest thing to a world Constitution, could have left out half of humanity. But fortunately, four courageous South American delegates beat stereotypes and the other delegates’ resistance to ensure that women’s rights and gender equality were included in this landmark document.
Elise Luhr Dietrichson is a Research Coordinator at UN Women in Beirut and Fatima Sator is a Communications Specialist at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Geneva. They continue to advocate for the recognition of women’s contribution to international affairs through research and advocacy.
