Dr Lau Chee Yong is currently a lecturer in Asia Pacific University in the area of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Besides teaching in a classroom, he strongly believes education can be extended through hands-on experience. This belief enabled him to nurture students to compete in international stages including Singapore and Brazil.
About his education, he received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering in the area of speech synthesis research incorporating Artificial Intelligence. His contribution could help those speaking impaired patient in regaining their voices in different context. He completed his PhD research in Centre of Speech Technology Research (CSTR) in University of Edinburgh, Scotland UK. He was being interviewed by Sin Chew Daily and China Press as the Young PhD achiever with Best Postgraduate Student Award in Year 2015 which is in his age of 25.
He dares to dream and he believes actions speak louder than words. Being a young achiever doesn’t stop him from continuing pursuing his goal. He wish to become more influential and to nurture more young talent in the future.
