Ben Palmer is Chief Conductor of the Deutsche Philharmonie Merck, and Founder and Artistic Director of Covent Garden Sinfonia. His recent guest conducting engagements include the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hallé Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg, the Sinfonietta de Lausanne, City Light Chamber Orchestra (Lucerne), and the Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin. In 2019 he will debut with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra and the Pilsen Philharmonic. He works regularly with the BBC Singers, the London Mozart Players, Grimethorpe Colliery Band, the Orchestra of Opera North and the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. He is one of Europe's foremost specialists in conducting live to film, leading more than 40 film-with-orchestra performances each year, in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and the KKL Luzern. His recent repertoire includes Jurassic Park (the 25th anniversary UK tour), Star Wars, Casino Royale, Home Alone, Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Pink Panther and Brassed Off. In addition to his work as a conductor, he is in great demand as a composer, arranger and orchestrator.
