Deeya Suzannah Bajaj is an adventurer, mountaineer and explorer. At 17
years of age she was the youngest in the world to have completed the
gruelling cross-country skiing expedition across the Greenland Icecap which
entailed skiing over 550 Km of ice, and facing temperatures going down to –
40 degrees centigrade. At the age of 14 years, she participated in an Indo-
US sea kayaking expedition along the Greenland Coast.
An accomplished mountaineer, Deeya has successfully climbed Mt Everest,
Mt Aconcagua (highest peak in South America), Mt Vinson (highest peak in
Antarctica), Mt. Kilimanjaro (highest peak in Africa), Mt. Elbrus (highest
peak in Russia). Deeya has been felicitated with the Rotary Club Shreyas
Award, the TIE Aspire Young Achievers Award-‘In appreciation of unrivalled
contributions as a role model for the Youth of India’ and the"Meri Dilli
Award"; in the category of Adventure sports. She was also given the title of
"Adventurer of the Year" by the Adventure Tour Operators Association Of
India in 2012. Deeya used her cross country skiing expedition to raise funds
to start a girl’s wing at a children’s home in Haridwar in 2012. She has since
been associated with the cause. The home currently boards and educates 40
girls whose parents have leprosy.
