Imagine a world without organ transplant waiting lists or organ trafficking - where twenty five percent of donated organs are not discarded because they are deemed unsuitable for transplantation. Biomedical engineer David Martos Ruiz is researching a process that could make this new world a reality. This process, known as “decellularisation”, could revolutionise not only organ transplantation, but also how we view and develop treatments for other diseases, such as cancer.
